During my doctorate program, I worked at five different institutions, conducted therapeutic group sessions with adolescents using short (animation) films that I chose, and conducted psychoanalytic/psychodynamic process analysis through detailed transcripts of these sessions.
In this thesis, I argue that when appropriate and necessary conditions are met, cinema can be a tool to reach the inner world of the person and can be used as a therapeutic tool, especially when supported by writing work, and I support my hypotheses through clinical examples from my own practice.
Among the five centers where I conducted my thesis study, there are psychiatric hospitals and centers that conduct group work with adolescents and conduct therapy processes. In these centers, I met people of similar ages but with different pathologies, so I had the opportunity to work with various groups. At the same time, I attended the institution meetings regularly and I had the opportunity to lead a group with the clinicians working in the institution.
